We’ve just published an article on the traditions surrounding the capture and use of sea turtles in Dovela, Southern Mozambique. The article is based upon interviews with fishermen from the area, who describe the process of capturing turtles and conducting a traditional ceremony and offerings. It’s pretty interesting to learn about the whole process and it’s an important aspect in the culture of these coastal Chopi people.
